Het doel van de aanwezigheid van de TU Delft in iTunesU is een verlengstuk van de missie van de TU Delft: De TU Delft draagt met haar unieke technologische infrastructuur, brede kennisbasis, wereldwijde reputatie en succesvolle alumni significant bij aan verantwoorde oplossingen voor urgente maatschappelijke vraagstukken, zowel nationaal als internationaal. Voor een deel van de invulling van deze missie is een platform, buiten de TU Delft platformen, geschikt. Vanwege de serieuze aard en aanwezigheid (en succes) van andere universiteiten die participeren in iTunesU lijkt dit een geschikt platform voor de TU Delft te zijn om de volgende aspecten kracht bij te zetten: versterken van de (internationale) reputatie verbreden van de kennisbasis en het bevorderen van life-long-learning aantrekken van potentieel talent (studenten maar ook onderwijzend personeel, onderzoekers etc
